From Rags To Riches...

"You are useless; you can't do anything except writing your boring books." This is what John heard from everyone because he was the only one in the village who was not interested in being a farmhand. He wanted to be an author- the most famous author of the world. And somehow this seemed impossible! John's parents were always upset with him because they thought that he didn't work because he was very passive and didn't care for anyone.

While reading the newspaper once, John saw an advertisement of a new publishing company that wanted to give a chance to new writers. John was beside himself to see the advertisement. He contacted the company and was asked to cometo the city. The publisher told him that he would read his book and see if it was publishable. John had no money to go to the city. He asked his father but his father said to him, “Why should I spend money on your journey? Have you ever done anything for your family?"

No one was there to help him except for Albert, his best friend. Albert's father was the richest person in the village. On his son's insistence, he agreed to help John.

The publisher in the city was not at all impressed by John's attire but when he read his book' he found it marvelous. He said, "No one has ever come to me with such a good story. Your story has everything in it--fantasy, action, drama and love." Ali's book was published and he earned a lot from it. Each book was sold for $20 and 15000 copies were sold and double of these were still being printed, such a huge demand.

There in village very few could read the book and appreciate it but all of them were aware of one thing that was john's hard word had paid off.
